The 2026 Buil Film Awards saw several Korean films celebrate major victories, with Hope leading the ceremony with five awards, while Yoo Hae Jin and Seo Soo Bin took home the top acting honors.

The 35th Buil Film Awards took place on October 7 at Signiel Busan in Haeundae, Busan, with actors Kim Nam Gil and Chun Woo Hee serving as hosts.

Director Na Hong Jin's film Hope emerged as the biggest winner of the night, collecting five trophies, including Best Director, Best Supporting Actor, Best New Actress, Best Cinematography, and Best Art and Technology.

Actor Eum Moon Suk received the Best Supporting Actor award for his performance in Hope, marking his first acting award.

During his acceptance speech, he expressed his gratitude, saying, "This is my first time receiving an award as an actor, and I'm truly thankful that it happened at the Buil Film Awards."

He also thanked director Na Hong Jin and his fellow cast members, including Hwang Jung Min and Jo In Sung, for making the filming experience memorable.

Meanwhile, The Man Who Lives with the King secured three awards, including Best Actor for Yoo Hae Jin and the male and female Star of the Year awards.

Yoo Hae Jin won Best Actor against a competitive lineup that included Park Ji Hoon, Lee Byung Hun, Jo In Sung, and Koo Kyo Hwan.

However, the actor was unable to attend the ceremony due to his filming schedule.

Producer Lim Eun Jung accepted the award on his behalf and thanked the director, cast, production team, and audiences who supported the movie.

She shared, "Above all, we would like to express our deepest gratitude to the audiences who loved this film."

Another major winner was The World of Love, which received two awards, including Best Picture and Best Actress.

Seo Soo Bin won Best Actress for her performance in the film, beating fellow nominees Son Ye Jin, Moon Ga Young, Go Ah Sung, and Yum Hye Ran.

The actress appeared emotional while accepting the award, admitting that she had felt overwhelmed simply being nominated alongside such experienced performers.

She said, "I was so overwhelmed just hearing that I had been nominated alongside such incredible senior actresses that I almost wanted to hide."

Seo Soo Bin also thanked director Yoon Ga Eun for creating a supportive filming environment where she could perform comfortably as a relatively new actress.

Reflecting on her experience, she shared, "I believe this award is more of a recognition of the film itself than of me personally."

She promised to continue improving as an actress and working hard to live up to the recognition.

Meanwhile, Yum Hye Ran received Best Supporting Actress for her performance in director Park Chan Wook's No Other Choice.

During her speech, she described her role as challenging and expressed gratitude for receiving encouragement to take on new acting opportunities.

She said, "I see this award as encouragement and support for my efforts to try something new, and it gives me great strength."

With five awards, Hope became the most awarded film at the 2026 Buil Film Awards, followed by The Man Who Lives with the King with three wins and The World of Love with two.

The ceremony highlighted the achievements of Korean cinema, recognizing both established actors and emerging talents for their performances and contributions to film.
