Police have closed a copyright infringement case involving G-Dragon and YG Entertainment executive producer Yang Hyun Suk without forwarding either of them for prosecution.

According to reports, the Seoul Mapo Police Station determined in April that there was insufficient basis to proceed with charges against G-Dragon and Yang Hyun Suk following an investigation into a copyright complaint.

The case began after a composer filed a complaint in 2024. The composer alleged that a song registered with the Korea Music Copyright Association in January 2001 had been reproduced without permission, given a different title, and later produced and distributed in 2009.

The dispute involved the track G-DRAGON, which appeared on the 2001 hip-hop compilation album 2001 Korea Hip Hop Flex. The complainant also alleged that the song was used without consent during G-Dragon's 2009 solo concert.

Police investigated the allegations and reportedly conducted a search and seizure operation at YG Entertainment's headquarters as part of the case. Investigators also questioned people connected to the matter.

After reviewing the evidence, however, police concluded that the allegations could not be established and decided not to forward G-Dragon or Yang Hyun Suk to prosecutors.

The decision effectively closes the police investigation without criminal charges against the two over the copyright allegations.
