TWICE’s upcoming 11th anniversary event is drawing mixed reactions after fans learned that only 750 people will be invited, as questions about the group’s future with JYP Entertainment continue.
On October 5, TWICE announced ONCE UPON A THRILL, a special fan event celebrating the group’s 11th debut anniversary.
The event will be held in Seoul on October 17 across three sessions at 2 PM, 4 PM, and 6 PM. Each session will accommodate 250 fans, bringing the total number of attendees to just 750. The exact venue will reportedly be shared only with selected attendees.
The limited capacity has become a major talking point among ONCE, TWICE’s fandom, particularly because of the group’s large global fanbase.
For previous anniversaries, TWICE held larger fan meetings at venues including Olympic Hall for their eighth and ninth anniversaries and Korea University’s Hwajeong Gymnasium for their 10th anniversary.
With the 11th anniversary celebration being reduced to a much smaller event rather than a traditional large-scale fan meeting, some fans have expressed disappointment over the number of people who will be able to attend.
The reaction comes as TWICE’s contract situation with JYP Entertainment remains under attention.
The agency previously said it would provide an update once matters are finalized. Some members have also faced reports regarding their individual agency plans, adding to uncertainty among fans about the group’s next chapter.
Leader Jihyo previously addressed the situation through Bubble, admitting that she had been careful about communicating while important decisions were still being discussed.
She told fans, “I’ll think carefully and wisely and make my choice as the person responsible for my own life, so I hope ONCE will continue to support and trust me like you always have.”
Jihyo also emphasized her feelings toward the group, saying, “I truly love and cherish TWICE as a team, and I believe ONCE will understand that from that feeling alone.”
TWICE is not the only major girl group to face criticism over the scale of an anniversary event. BLACKPINK also received mixed reactions earlier this year after holding a limited 10th anniversary meet-and-greet for a small number of fans.
For TWICE, however, the immediate concern among some fans is the size of ONCE UPON A THRILL, with only 750 spots available for a group celebrating 11 years together while discussions about its future remain ongoing.
