A fan-organized photo exhibition for T.O.P has officially been canceled after reservations fell significantly below expectations.
On October 4, T.O.P's Korean fan site Choi Seung Hyun Dot Com announced that the exhibition, originally scheduled for October 31 and November 1, would no longer take place.
According to the organizers, they had already reduced the size of this year's event because of T.O.P's ongoing tour schedule and fans' circumstances. The exhibition was prepared for a total of around 300 visitors over two days.
However, reservations reached only about 25% of the expected number after booking opened, meaning fewer than 100 people initially signed up.
The organizers said they still planned to proceed despite having already paid for the venue and facing possible financial losses.
They explained, “Even though we had already signed the venue contract and paid the deposit, we wanted to keep our promise to those who made reservations, even if it meant taking on additional costs and losses.”
The situation reportedly changed further when existing reservation holders began requesting cancellations.
According to the fan site, the estimated attendance eventually dropped to only around 10% to 15% of the number originally planned for each day.
The organizers said, “We reviewed several possible ways to continue the exhibition, but we concluded that with the current number of participants, it would be difficult to operate the event normally in the form and scale we had prepared.”
They ultimately decided to cancel the exhibition and announce the decision early, especially because some international fans had been planning trips to South Korea for the event.
The fan exhibition was inspired by T.O.P's first solo album, Multi-Perspective, and had continued to be promoted through the fan site's social media accounts until October 1.
The cancellation has attracted additional attention because it came shortly after T.O.P confirmed his relationship with singer and actress Nana on October 2.
A representative for T.O.P said the two first became acquainted while working together on a music video before eventually developing a romantic relationship.
While many people congratulated the couple, some fans reportedly expressed disappointment over how the relationship news was communicated. This has led to online speculation that the dating announcement may have contributed to some of the exhibition reservation cancellations.
However, there is currently no confirmed evidence showing that T.O.P's relationship with Nana directly caused the low reservation numbers or the exhibition's cancellation. The fan site's official explanation focused on insufficient attendance and the continued decline in reservations.
For now, the confirmed reason for the cancellation remains the unexpectedly low number of participants, which made it difficult for organizers to hold the exhibition as originally planned.
