tvN is bringing together an unusually strong creative team and cast for its upcoming 20th anniversary drama 100 Days of Deception, led by Kim Yoo Jung and Park Jinyoung.

Behind the series is director Yoo In Sik, known for Dr. Romantic and Extraordinary Attorney Woo. The Dr. Romantic series previously reached a peak rating of 27.6%, making Yoo one of the biggest names attached to the new project.

He is teaming up with writer Ryu Bo Ri, whose previous work includes Do You Like Brahms?, a drama praised for its detailed portrayal of relationships and emotions.

Ryu described 100 Days of Deception as a story about love during a dark period of history. The drama begins with the fictional idea of independence fighters placing an undercover agent inside the Japanese Government-General of Korea.

Set in 1932 Gyeongseong, the story follows Lee Ga Kyung, played by Kim Yoo Jung, a talented pickpocket who becomes an undercover agent. Park Jinyoung stars as Sato Hideo, an elite interpreter working inside the Government-General.

Their relationship develops during a dangerous 100-day mission involving secrets, deception, and conflicting loyalties.

Promotional posters have teased their complicated connection. Lee Ga Kyung’s poster reads, “It was a lie meant to last 100 days, until it became sincere.”

Sato Hideo’s poster says, “Even though I knew it was a lie, I kept wanting to believe it.”

Writer Ryu also expressed confidence in the two leads, saying she believed Kim Yoo Jung could make Lee Ga Kyung especially compelling while praising Park Jinyoung for the sincerity conveyed through his eyes and voice.

The supporting lineup adds even more experience to the project. Kim Hyun Joo plays Yoo So Ran, a sniper involved in the independence movement, while Lee Moo Saeng stars as Korean American correspondent Yoo Philip.

Jin Seon Kyu, who appeared in the blockbuster film Extreme Job, takes on the role of Sato Shinichiro, an ambitious senior official in the Government-General and a key target in the story.

With the director behind a 27.6% ratings hit, the writer of Do You Like Brahms?, and a cast featuring Kim Yoo Jung, Park Jinyoung, Kim Hyun Joo, Lee Moo Saeng, and Jin Seon Kyu, 100 Days of Deception is drawing attention for the strength of the talent assembled both in front of and behind the camera.

100 Days of Deception premieres October 10 at 9:10 PM KST on tvN.
