BTS’ upcoming concerts in Bogotá are now projected to generate an economic impact of approximately 126.05 billion Colombian pesos, or about 51.7 billion KRW, while supporting 5,244 direct and indirect jobs.

The new estimate from Bogotá’s Secretariat of Economic Development comes as BTS begins the South American leg of BTS World Tour ‘ARIRANG’ with two shows at Estadio El Campín on October 2 and 3.

The latest projection is higher than an earlier estimate from Bogotá’s Tourism Observatory, which expected spending connected to the two concerts to exceed 99 billion Colombian pesos, or roughly 40.6 billion KRW.

According to María del Pilar López Uribe, head of Bogotá’s economic development department, BTS’ visit is expected to contribute to employment opportunities for people in the city.

The economic impact extends beyond concert ticket sales. Visitors traveling for the shows are expected to spend money on hotels, transportation, restaurants, merchandise, and other local services.

Similar effects are being projected elsewhere on BTS’ South American tour.

In Chile, a study commissioned by local financial outlet Diario Financiero estimated that BTS’ three Santiago concerts on October 14, 16, and 17 could generate around $53 million in economic activity.

Peru is also preparing for BTS’ first visit. PROMPERÚ highlighted the concerts in a study on music tourism and the “BTS effect,” reporting that more than 521,000 people joined the ticket queue for the Lima shows.

Meanwhile, demand has also been strong in Brazil. Ticketmaster Brasil reported that more than 630,000 people joined the fan club presale for the São Paulo concerts over two days.

BTS will perform 14 concerts across five South American cities, including Bogotá, Lima, Santiago, Buenos Aires, and São Paulo. The Bogotá and Buenos Aires dates will also mark the group’s first full-group concerts in Colombia and Argentina.

The group’s latest album also continues to perform strongly on streaming charts. BTS’ fifth full-length album, ARIRANG, ranked No. 3 on Spotify’s Weekly Top Albums Global chart for September 25 through October 1, while its title track SWIM ranked No. 24 on the Weekly Top Songs Global chart.

With Bogotá alone now forecasting more than 126 billion Colombian pesos in economic impact and over 5,200 jobs, BTS’ South American tour is drawing attention not only for ticket demand but also for its potential effect on local economies.
