Lovelyz member-turned-actress Jung Yein is set to join season 2 of Netflix’s The Trauma Code: Heroes on Call following Ha Young’s departure from the series.
According to Netflix, Jung Yein has been confirmed to play nurse Cheon Jang Mi, a member of the severe trauma team. The character was played by Ha Young in the first season.
Jung Yein will join returning cast members including Ju Ji Hoon and Choo Young Woo as the drama moves forward with its new season.
Ha Young gained attention for her performance as Cheon Jang Mi in season 1, and her return for later seasons had reportedly been discussed. However, she later stepped down from the project.
Her departure came after public controversy surrounding comments she made about her great-grandfather. Ha Young previously said that her great-grandfather, doctor Ahn Sang Ho, had treated Emperor Gojong.
Reports later drew attention to records indicating that he had been affiliated with a pro-Japanese organization during Korea’s colonial period. Ha Young subsequently chose to leave the series.
Jung Yein debuted with Lovelyz in 2014 before expanding into acting. She began appearing in dramas in 2017, including the web drama The Blue Sea and tvN’s Criminal Minds.
With Jung Yein now taking over the role of Cheon Jang Mi, The Trauma Code: Heroes on Call season 2 is expected to begin filming in October.
