Kim Ji Won surprised fans by revealing that she once trained for an idol debut before becoming one of Korea’s well-known actresses.
The actress appeared with Lee Jung Eun on the YouTube variety show Salon Drip 2, where the conversation turned to dancing and her younger years.
Kim Ji Won shared that she briefly learned dance while preparing to become an idol trainee, although she never officially debuted.
Looking back on that time, she joked, “There’s a reason I didn’t debut.”
When asked what she thought was lacking, Kim Ji Won said it was not just one specific skill and admitted that she probably needed improvement in several areas.
Host Jang Do Yeon then brought up a funny story from Kim Ji Won’s trainee days. According to the story, when things were not going the way she wanted, Kim Ji Won once confidently said, “If Beyoncé can do it, why can’t I?”
Kim Ji Won laughed shyly as the old comment was mentioned again.
Although her idol debut never happened, Kim Ji Won said her love for music has continued. Lee Jung Eun revealed that Kim Ji Won often sings quietly while filming.
Kim Ji Won explained that she usually starts singing when she becomes exhausted during long shoots, using music to lift her mood and energy.
She added that she also enjoys listening to and singing along to popular K-pop songs, showing that music is still part of her daily life even after choosing acting instead of an idol career.
