BTS extends Oricon record as fourth single passes 1 million points in Japan

BTS has extended its record on Japan’s Oricon charts after another of the group’s songs surpassed 1 million combined points.

According to Oricon, BTS’ Boy With Luv (Feat. Halsey) passed 1 million cumulative points on the latest Weekly Combined Singles Ranking dated September 28.

The chart calculates results using multiple forms of music consumption, including streaming and digital downloads.

With the latest milestone, BTS now has four singles that have exceeded 1 million combined points on Oricon.

The group previously reached the mark with Lights / Boy With Luv, Dynamite, and Butter (Permission to Dance).

BTS now holds the record for the most singles exceeding 1 million combined points among international artists on Oricon’s Combined Singles Ranking.

The group also reached another major Oricon milestone earlier this year when Butter (Permission to Dance) surpassed 4 million combined points, reportedly becoming the first release by an international artist to reach the mark.

Originally released in April 2019 as the title track of BTS’ album MAP OF THE SOUL : PERSONA, Boy With Luv (Feat. Halsey) continues to show long-term popularity in Japan. The song is also approaching 300 million cumulative streams on Oricon’s Weekly Streaming Ranking.

More than seven years after its release, Boy With Luv has now helped BTS extend its Oricon record to four million-point singles, further adding to the group’s long-running achievements in the Japanese music market.
