The Korean film The Assassin(s) has strengthened its box office run, staying at No. 1 for five consecutive days and surpassing 1.56 million admissions.
According to data from the Korean Film Council’s integrated ticketing system, The Assassin(s) attracted 260,462 moviegoers on September 27 alone. Since opening on September 23, the film has reached a cumulative total of 1,566,139 admissions.
The movie maintained the top position throughout the Chuseok holiday period, building on its strong opening and emerging as the holiday’s leading theatrical release.
Tazza: The Song of Beelzebub, which was released on the same day, ranked second with 169,805 admissions on September 27. Its cumulative audience reached 832,936, putting it closer to the 1 million admissions mark.
Odyssey placed third, while The Intern ranked fourth.
The Assassin(s) is set against the political climate of 1974 and presents a fictionalized story connected to questions surrounding the assassination attempt that killed South Korean First Lady Yuk Young-soo. The film mixes historical events with fictional elements rather than presenting itself as a documentary account
