BTS member V’s playful phrase “Mexico, mucho picante” is gaining attention again months after he first said it during the group’s visit to Mexico.
The phrase resurfaced during a K-EXPO event in Mexico City on September 25, where South Korean President Lee Jae-myung and First Lady Kim Hye-kyung joined a host in saying “Mexico, mucho picante” at the end of a short interview.
Videos of the moment quickly circulated among BTS fans on X and TikTok, with many connecting it to V’s memorable greeting from earlier this year.
V first used the phrase in May when BTS visited Mexico City and appeared with Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum at the National Palace. Around 50,000 fans gathered at the Zócalo to see the group, according to El País.
During the appearance, BTS greeted fans in Spanish, and V’s casual “Mexico, mucho picante” line became one of the most talked-about moments from the visit.
The phrase continued to spread online after the visit and became closely associated with V among Mexican ARMYs. Its appearance again during an official South Korea-Mexico cultural event four months later showed how strongly the simple line had remained in fans’ memories.
Rather than being a planned slogan, “Mucho Picante” began as a lighthearted remark from V and gradually turned into a recognizable fan phrase connected to BTS’s 2026 activities in Mexico.
BTS’s relationship with Mexican fans has remained active throughout the year. The group returned to Mexico for performances in May, while discussions about future cultural exchanges between South Korea and Mexico have continued.
For fans, however, the latest moment stood out for a simpler reason: a casual phrase V said months earlier had unexpectedly resurfaced at another major Korea-Mexico event.
