Disney+’s highly anticipated series The Remarried Empress is already drawing major global attention ahead of its premiere.
According to reports on September 23, the drama’s main trailer surpassed 13 million cumulative views within just 48 hours of its release.
The trailer was released across major international markets including the United States, Japan, the United Kingdom, France, and Brazil, with localized subtitles and dubbing helping the upcoming Korean fantasy romance reach viewers around the world.
The strong response follows earlier interest in the series’ teaser and adds to expectations surrounding the first live-action adaptation of the popular web novel and webtoon.
The Remarried Empress stars Shin Min Ah as Navier, the empress of the Eastern Empire. After Emperor Sovieshu, played by Ju Ji Hoon, asks for a divorce following his involvement with Rashta, played by Lee Se Young, Navier makes an unexpected decision involving Prince Heinrey, played by Lee Jong Suk.
The series is based on a hugely popular original work. As of July, its webtoon had recorded approximately 2.97 billion cumulative views worldwide.
Disney+ is also releasing a special look at the making of the series, offering viewers a glimpse into how the production team brought its large-scale imperial fantasy world to live action.
The production searched 16 castles across France, Germany, and the Czech Republic before selecting Germany’s Schleissheim Palace as one of its major filming locations. Elaborate sets, costumes, visual effects, and music were also used to recreate the world of the original story.
Studio N CEO Kwon Mi Kyung explained the production’s approach, saying, “We thought the strength of this project might come from bringing the original work to life as faithfully as possible.”
With its main trailer reaching more than 13 million views in only two days, The Remarried Empress is showing strong early interest before its Disney+ premiere on November 4.
