Son Ye Jin has shared why she prepared a large number of gifts for the cast and staff of Netflix’s The Scandal at the project’s wrap party.
During a September 21 appearance on Netflix Korea with Ji Chang Wook and Nana, host Yoo Byung Jae brought up reports that Son Ye Jin had prepared prizes ranging from Apple products to shoes and perfume.
He told her, “We received a tip about you. At the wrap party, you gave out everything from Apple products to shoes and perfume,” before expressing surprise at the variety and price range of the gifts.
Son Ye Jin explained that the presents were her way of showing appreciation to the people who worked on the series.
“I actually couldn’t really join the team dinners, and when I’m working on a project, I’m often so focused on my own acting,” she said.
She added that even after many years as an actress, she still finds it difficult to fully express her gratitude while filming.
“I was always very thankful because everyone works so hard in their own position,” Son Ye Jin explained. “There wasn’t much I could personally do for them, so I thought they might be happy if I prepared some nice gifts.”
According to Son Ye Jin, the items were prepared as part of a lucky draw during the wrap party.
She said, “I prepared quite a lot for the lucky draw. If I only prepared a few, hardly anyone would be able to receive something.”
Son Ye Jin added that her main intention was simply to give the team a happy memory after completing the project.
“I did it hoping it would bring them some happiness,” she said.
The Scandal stars Son Ye Jin as Lady Cho alongside Ji Chang Wook as Jo Won and Nana as Hee Yeon. The Netflix series follows a dangerous romantic wager set during the Joseon era.
Son Ye Jin’s explanation offered a glimpse into how she chose to thank the production team after filming ended.
