Girls’ Generation’s Sunny opened up about a personal family experience while listening to the story of a married couple with hearing disabilities.
On the September 21 episode of KBS2’s Baesong Wassong, Sunny appeared alongside Lee Seung Chul and Tak Jae Hoon as they delivered songs to people with meaningful personal stories.
The episode featured a couple who both have hearing disabilities. The husband shared that he was born with hearing loss and spoke about how his mother regularly traveled with him from Geoje to Busan for treatment when he was young.
His wife also explained that her family discovered her hearing loss after noticing that she was not speaking as expected when she was a toddler.
During the conversation, the couple discussed the difference between hearing aids and cochlear implants, explaining that hearing does not necessarily return immediately after cochlear implant surgery and that the adjustment process can take time.
After hearing their experience, Sunny revealed that her own older sister has also dealt with hearing loss.
“Actually, my older sister can’t hear in one ear,” Sunny shared.
She added, “Just like you said, after the surgery, it took a long time before she was able to hear.”
Sunny’s comment came naturally during the discussion as she connected the couple’s experience with what her family had witnessed during her sister’s treatment.
The singer did not provide further details about her sister’s condition, keeping the focus on the couple and their story.
