BLACKPINK's Lisa has opened up about how Rosé, Jennie and Jisoo changed after spending more time on their individual careers.
In a recent interview with Rolling Stone Canada tied to her upcoming documentary Always Lalisa, Lisa reflected on the period when all four BLACKPINK members focused more heavily on solo activities.
According to Lisa, stepping into their own projects helped each member develop a clearer identity.
She explained, “During that break, I think we each found ourselves more and more.”
Lisa said the difference became especially noticeable when she listened to the members' solo releases.
She recalled thinking, “Wow, that's so Rosé. That's so Jennie. That's so Jisoo.”
For Lisa, their solo music showed how much more distinct each member's personal style had become.
Rosé explored her own sound through rosie, Jennie released Ruby, Jisoo introduced AMORTAGE, while Lisa continued expanding her solo identity with Alter Ego.
Lisa said that growth also affected the group when they came back together.
“I think all of us found ourselves more during that time,” she said. “So when we came back together, there was more energy, and we could bring good energy to the team.”
The changes were not limited to music.
Lisa also revealed that she became more comfortable expressing her own opinions, including during discussions about styling and creative decisions.
She explained, “Before, I was the type to just say ‘okay’ to everything, but now I'm speaking up more and more about what I think.”
Lisa added that she now feels more confident sharing her views and believes the other members have experienced similar growth.
