Shin Seung Ho has revealed an unexpected connection with Red Velvet that began before he became an actor.

During the September 19 episode of YouTube show Pinggyego, Shin Seung Ho appeared alongside Koo Kyo Hwan and Kang Ki Young and talked about the part-time jobs he took on in his early 20s.

When Yoo Jae Suk asked whether he had much free time during that period, Shin Seung Ho explained that he did not.

“I didn’t have any free time at all. After I stopped being an athlete, the first job I started was security at a department store,” he said.

Shin Seung Ho worked there for around three months and said he genuinely enjoyed the experience. His job sometimes included providing close security when celebrities attended events at the department store.

One particular event stood out in his memory.

“Red Velvet came for a fan signing event, and I ended up providing close security for them,” he recalled.

What makes the story even more surprising is what happened later in his career. After becoming an actor, Shin Seung Ho eventually worked with Red Velvet member Irene in a film.

“After some time passed, I became an actor and ended up filming a movie with Irene,” he said.

Shin Seung Ho was referring to Double Patty, the 2021 film in which he starred opposite Irene.

He later discovered that old footage from the Red Velvet fan event still existed and showed him walking alongside the group while working security.

“I looked it up later and there was actually a video of me walking in with Red Velvet,” he said, adding that he was impressed by fans who managed to find the old footage.

From protecting Red Velvet at a department store event to later becoming Irene’s co-star, Shin Seung Ho’s story highlighted an unexpected full-circle moment from before his acting career began.
