BTS is aiming for a possible three-award sweep at the 2026 MTV Video Music Awards after receiving an additional nomination for Best Group.
The group is now nominated in three categories at this year’s VMAs. Along with Best Group, BTS is also competing for Song of the Year and Best K-Pop with *SWIM*, the title track from their fifth full-length album *Arirang*.
BTS has a strong history in the Best Group category. The group won the award four consecutive times from 2019 through 2022, giving them the most wins in the category to date.
The 2026 MTV VMAs are scheduled to take place on September 27 at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles, with the ceremony set to air on CBS and Paramount+.
BTS is also continuing to post strong results on global music charts.
*Arirang* rose one spot to No. 98 on the UK Official Albums Chart for September 18 to 24. The album has now remained on the chart for 26 consecutive weeks since its release in March, extending BTS’s own record for their longest-charting album there.
The album also ranked No. 63 on the Official Scottish Albums Chart, No. 65 on the Official Physical Albums Chart, and No. 70 on the Official Albums Sales Chart.
On Spotify, *Arirang* held No. 2 on the Weekly Top Albums Global chart for a fifth straight week. *SWIM* ranked No. 14 on the Weekly Top Songs Global chart, while album track *NORMAL* placed at No. 88.
BTS also recently returned to the *iHeartRadio Music Festival* stage at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas on September 18, marking their first appearance at the event in about six years.
With three VMA nominations and continued chart momentum for *Arirang* and *SWIM*, BTS is heading into the awards show with several major categories in play.
