Choi Kang Hee has revealed why she ultimately turned down Another Miss Oh, even though she was strongly drawn to the drama and considered it a chance to do one more romantic comedy.
On September 17, Choi Kang Hee appeared alongside Oh Man Seok on the YouTube channel Neighbor Couple Seo Hyun Chul and Jung Jae Eun, where they discussed career opportunities that arrived at difficult times.
Choi Kang Hee recalled receiving an offer for Another Miss Oh when she did not feel fully prepared to accept another project.
She shared, “There was a time when an opportunity came even though I wasn’t ready. I received an offer for a drama called Another Miss Oh.”
The actress explained that she had already been thinking about moving away from the type of romantic comedy roles she had often played as she grew older.
She said, “At the time, I thought I was at the age when I should stop playing those kinds of roles. I thought romantic comedies should go to younger actresses, but the script was so much fun.”
Timing ultimately became the biggest problem.
Choi Kang Hee was filming the 60-episode drama Glamorous Temptation, and the schedules for the two productions would have overlapped.
She explained, “I would have had to film them at the same time. I knew I absolutely couldn’t act that way, and I wasn’t confident I could do it, so I let it go because I wasn’t prepared.”
Despite turning down the project, Choi Kang Hee admitted that the decision was difficult because she had hoped to experience one final romantic comedy at that stage of her career.
She added, “I still had this feeling that I wanted to try it one last time because the script was so entertaining.”
Another Miss Oh eventually premiered in 2016 and became a popular romantic comedy. Looking back, Choi Kang Hee explained that her decision was less about a lack of interest in the drama and more about timing, an already demanding filming schedule, and her uncertainty about taking on two projects at once.
