BTS’s Suga has drawn attention after meeting legendary former boxer Sugar Ray Leonard, a figure previously linked to the story behind his stage name.
On September 11, Sugar Ray Leonard shared a photo with Suga on his social media, revealing that the two had met in Los Angeles.
Leonard described the encounter as a memorable moment and had warm words for the BTS member.
“Still smiling from an unforgettable night in Los Angeles. Meeting Suga from BTS was truly special,” Leonard wrote, adding that Suga was “as kind, humble, and down to earth as I hoped.”
The boxing legend also recalled attending a BTS concert at SoFi Stadium, describing it as an experience he would not forget.
“Some memories really are sweeter than sugar,” he joked.
The meeting attracted additional interest because Suga previously discussed the connection between his stage name and Sugar Ray Leonard.
During an April interview with WIRED, Suga explained that producer Bang Si Hyuk was a boxing fan and said the name was partly inspired by the legendary boxer.
Seeing Suga and Sugar Ray Leonard finally together therefore created a meaningful moment for fans, bringing the story behind the BTS member’s famous stage name full circle.
