Lee Jun Hyuk is taking the lead in 'The Ordinary Jackpot', a new TVING office drama built around an unusual premise: there is no romance and no clear villain.
The drama, based on Seo In Ha’s popular web novel, follows Gong Eun Tae, a team leader who has spent years enduring an exhausting work life. After winning 1.3 billion won in the lottery, he returns to work instead of immediately quitting, while trying to see his ordinary life differently.
Director Yoon Young Bin, who wrote and directed the series, said, “Our story has no romance at all. The original work has it, but the drama does not.” He added that the series would focus on people whose good intentions clash, rather than on a battle between good and evil.
Yoon also addressed Lee Jun Hyuk’s casting as an ordinary office worker despite his striking appearance. He said acting ability and similarity to the character mattered more than looks, praising the actor’s professionalism and preparation.
In 'The Ordinary Jackpot', Lee Jun Hyuk plays Gong Eun Tae, a youngest team leader who has risen quickly while being pressured from both above and below. The lottery win gives him an opportunity to reconsider his approach to work and life.
Lee Jun Hyuk said he related closely to the character after working in the entertainment industry for nearly 20 years. “The pain, happiness and daily life are all ordinary to me,” he said, explaining why Eun Tae’s experiences felt familiar.
He also said the project required strong teamwork, adding that the cast helped him throughout the production.
Asked what he would do if he won the lottery, Lee Jun Hyuk answered, “I would invest in productions.” He compared a lottery win to the success of a hit project, saying that work and responsibility would continue even after a major breakthrough.
'The Ordinary Jackpot' will run for 10 episodes. It premieres on TVING at 6 p.m. on September 10, 2026, with new episodes arriving every Thursday. It will also air on tvN at 9 p.m. every Monday and Tuesday beginning September 14, 2026.
