OH MY GIRL’s Mimi is expanding her activities beyond K-pop after being selected as an official ambassador for DJ KOREA, one of South Korea’s leading DJ equipment and production platforms.
DJ KOREA officially distributes major global DJ equipment brands in South Korea, including Pioneer DJ and AlphaTheta, and has played a role in supporting the country’s DJ and festival scene.
Mimi’s new ambassador role comes shortly after the release of her first solo single, Bish Bash Bosh, which highlighted a different side of her musical identity.
Outside of her activities with OH MY GIRL, Mimi has been developing her DJ skills under the name DJ MIXMIM. Through her personal YouTube channel, she has regularly shared DJ sets influenced by hip hop and electronic music.
She also incorporated live DJ elements into performances of Bish Bash Bosh, personally working with turntables and controllers on stage.
Mimi was heavily involved in the creation of Bish Bash Bosh, participating in its production, lyrics, and composition. The hip hop track combines breakbeat driven rhythms with her distinctive rhythmic rap style.
Explaining why Mimi was chosen, DJ KOREA said, “Mimi’s unique personality and trendy energy, which she has developed through years of genuine passion for DJing, perfectly match the direction DJ KOREA is pursuing.”
The company added, “Together with Mimi, who connects mainstream audiences and subculture as both a K-pop artist and a skilled DJ, we hope to help bring DJ culture to a wider audience.”
The appointment marks another step in Mimi’s growing DJ career as she continues to build her own musical identity alongside her activities as a member of OH MY GIRL.
