OH MY GIRL’s Mimi created a playful romantic moment with Japanese actor Sho Kasamatsu after the two discovered they had several interests in common.
Mimi and Kasamatsu appeared together on the September 2 episode of MBC’s Radio Star, alongside Ryu Seung Soo and Jo Hye Ryun.
During the show, Mimi first showed off her Japanese skills and explained that she naturally improved while promoting in Japan with OH MY GIRL.
She said, “After debuting, we went on tours in Japan and even reached No. 1 on the Oricon daily album chart. During promotions, I would do Japanese interviews all day from morning until early the next day, so even the Japanese I couldn’t speak before started improving.”
The mood changed when Jo Hye Ryun jokingly suggested that Mimi and Kasamatsu try going on a date.
Mimi quickly joined the playful setup and began chatting with Kasamatsu in Japanese. The two soon discovered another connection through their interest in Japanese manga.
When Mimi revealed that Inuyasha was one of her favorite manga series, Kasamatsu immediately recognized it and showed interest in her choice.
Their shared interest prompted Mimi to suddenly joke, “I guess we should date.”
When the cast teased her about finally leaving her single life behind, Mimi laughed and said, “I’m only good at this on the surface,” suggesting that her confident flirting was mostly for fun.
The chemistry continued when Mimi and Kasamatsu were asked to draw portraits of each other. As they looked closely at one another while sketching, Mimi admitted that the moment unexpectedly made her nervous.
She told Kasamatsu, “I might fall for you while you’re drawing and looking at me. You’re looking at me so deeply.”
Mimi then confessed, “That just made my heart flutter a little.”
The two eventually exchanged their drawings, with the Radio Star hosts commenting that they looked good together.
Mimi has previously spoken openly about having very little dating experience. On Sixth Sense: City Tour 2, she said her last relationship was a brief one during high school and shared that it ended after problems in the relationship.
Rather than confirming any real romance, Mimi and Kasamatsu’s interaction on Radio Star remained a lighthearted variety show moment, with their playful flirting and shared interests becoming one of the episode’s standout conversations.
