Actress Ha Young will not return for the upcoming sequel to Netflix’s The Trauma Code: Heroes on Call following controversy surrounding claims about her great-grandfather’s past.
On September 1, Netflix confirmed Ha Young’s departure, stating, “We respect the actress’s position, and Ha Young will not appear in the sequel to ‘The Trauma Code.’ It is difficult to confirm other casting details or the production schedule.”
Ha Young played nurse Cheon Jang Mi in The Trauma Code: Heroes on Call, which follows skilled trauma surgeon Baek Kang Hyuk as he works to rebuild a struggling severe trauma team.
The recent controversy centered on claims regarding the past pro-Japanese activities of Ha Young’s great-grandfather, Ahn Sang Ho. The issue drew public attention ahead of preparations for the sequel, and Ha Young ultimately decided not to participate in the new installment.
According to original web novel author Lee Nak Jun, filming for the follow-up season is expected to begin in October. Netflix has not announced further details about the cast or whether another actress will take over Ha Young’s role.
