BLACKPINK’s Jisoo looked back on her viral “yogurt bowl” photo and jokingly questioned why it received so much criticism at the time.
On August 30, Jisoo appeared in a video released on W Korea’s YouTube channel, where she revisited memorable photos and clips from her 10 years since debut.
When an old yogurt bowl photo she had posted on social media appeared, Jisoo immediately laughed and admitted, “My mistake. A mistake from my past.”
After the production team referred to it as the “yogurt bowl incident,” Jisoo jokingly protested, “Is it really serious enough to be called an incident? I still don’t know what I did so wrong.”
Jisoo explained that aesthetic food photos were popular at the time, and she wanted to try the trend because her fellow BLACKPINK members were good at taking stylish pictures. However, her attempt received teasing and criticism from fans online.
She recalled, “The members were all good at posting aesthetic photos, so I thought, ‘I should follow the trend too.’ But after I uploaded the yogurt photo, everyone criticized it. I was just trying to take an aesthetic picture.”
Jisoo later realized that part of the problem was her choice of ingredients. She said she was apparently supposed to use thick Greek yogurt and honeycomb, but instead used regular yogurt and poured in honey she already had at home.
Still sounding playfully confused, she joked, “Who just has honeycomb sitting at home?”
She also defended the strawberries in the photo after learning that people had found their appearance funny.
“They said the strawberries were funny too, but they looked just like the strawberries next to me. They weren’t funny. I didn’t know. Why didn’t anyone explain it properly to me?” she said.
Jisoo ended the story by joking that the reaction was enough to stop her from trying similar aesthetic food photos again. Her comments showed that she now looks back on the viral moment with humor rather than taking the old criticism seriously.
