tvN’s You Quiz on the Block recorded strong ratings with Song Kang making his first variety show appearance after completing his military service.
According to Nielsen Korea, the August 26 episode reached a peak rating of 5.8% among households in the Seoul metropolitan area on paid platforms. The program ranked No. 1 in its time slot among cable and general programming channels.
The episode also took first place across all channels, including terrestrial broadcasters, among viewers aged 20 to 49, one of tvN’s key target demographics.
Song Kang was one of the main highlights of the episode as he returned to variety television following his military discharge. He talked about his time in the military, his acting comeback, and his upcoming drama Four Hands.
He also looked back on the early days of his career, including a harsh comment he once received during an audition.
“You’re handsome, but you don’t have much charm,” he recalled hearing.
The episode also featured chef Sam Kim, who shared a personal story about his family’s financial struggles during the Asian financial crisis and the sacrifices his mother made to support his future.
Other guests included Kim Do Hee and professor Kim Heon.
With a 5.8% peak rating and a No. 1 ranking among viewers aged 20 to 49 across all channels, the episode showed strong viewer interest, helped by Song Kang’s highly anticipated return to entertainment programs.
