Squid Game director Hwang Dong Hyuk is returning to the big screen with a new film titled K.O. CLUB, reuniting with Lee Byung Hun and Park Hae Soo.
K.O. CLUB, short for Killing Oldmen Club, is set in the near future, where even youth can be purchased with money. The story centers on growing conflict between a small group of wealthy and powerful older people who refuse to step aside and a younger generation left with fewer opportunities.
The project marks Hwang Dong Hyuk’s return to directing a feature film after about 10 years. He previously directed movies including The Fortress, Miss Granny, and Silenced, before gaining worldwide recognition through Netflix’s Squid Game. His work on the series also earned him a Primetime Emmy Award for directing.
Lee Byung Hun will work with Hwang Dong Hyuk again following their collaboration on Squid Game. Park Hae Soo, who starred in the first season of Squid Game, is also reuniting with the director for the new project.
The cast will additionally feature Oh Jung Se, Cho Yeo Jeong, and Kim So Jin, bringing together five established actors for the film.
Production will be handled by Firstman Studio, the company founded by Hwang Dong Hyuk and Squid Game producer Kim Ji Yeon.
With Hwang Dong Hyuk returning to film and several Squid Game collaborators joining the cast, K.O. CLUB is already drawing attention for its reunion lineup and its story about generational conflict, wealth, and power.
K.O. CLUB is currently scheduled to begin filming in the first half of 2027.
