Song Kang said he could serve 4 more months in the military, then a reenlistment dream changed his mind

Song Kang shared a funny update about life after completing his military service, revealing that a dream about reenlisting made him regret joking that he could stay in the military longer.

During the August 26 broadcast of tvN’s You Quiz on the Block, Song Kang recalled how comfortable he eventually became with military life.

“I used to go around saying, ‘I think I could serve about four more months,’” he said.

However, that confidence apparently did not last after his discharge. Song Kang revealed that he recently dreamed about having to enlist again.

“I even had a dream about reenlisting. I recently woke up sweating,” he said, drawing laughter.

The actor jokingly admitted that he may have spoken too soon, adding, “I realized I should have been more careful with what I said. Now I never say that anymore.”

Despite the nightmare, Song Kang described his military service as an important turning point. Before enlisting, he said he was constantly working and often felt nervous whenever he took a break.

“Before I enlisted, I was always working. Even resting made me feel anxious,” he explained. “But after experiencing a break in the military, I realized how important rest is.”

During his service, Song Kang reportedly focused on regular sleep, exercise, writing in his journal, and reading around 40 books. He said the experience gave him time to recharge and rethink his approach to acting and everyday life.

Song Kang also shared a lighthearted story about preparing for his acting comeback. After being cast in the upcoming drama Four Hands, he asked younger soldiers whether he could still convincingly wear a school uniform.

He recalled asking them, “I have to wear a school uniform. Do you think I can pull it off?”

According to Song Kang, they confidently replied, “Absolutely. You look even younger than a high school student.”

Their encouragement worked—until he arrived on set and saw actual teenage extras.

Song Kang joked, “Those guys lied to me,” once again making the studio laugh.

His appearance offered fans a glimpse at how military service changed his perspective, while also showing that his biggest post-discharge concern may now be avoiding another unexpected reenlistment dream.
