So Ji Sub has reflected on two dramas that he believes marked major turning points in his acting career.
On August 24, Dazed released its September cover and interview featuring the actor, who also showed a different side of himself through a bold new fashion concept.
During the interview, So Ji Sub spoke about the lasting impact of his recent SBS drama Agent Kim Reactivated, which ended after surpassing 20% in viewership ratings.
He said, “There are still people who call me ‘Agent Kim Reactivated.’ I think that shows how much love the drama received.”
So Ji Sub then compared the project to one of the most important works from the earlier part of his career.
He explained, “If ‘I’m Sorry, I Love You’ was the project that opened the first chapter of my acting career, I think ‘Agent Kim Reactivated’ opened the second chapter.”
The actor added that he has become especially attached to the name “Agent Kim Reactivated” because viewers continue to remember him through the character.
He shared, “I’m even happier when people call me ‘Agent Kim Reactivated’ now, and it has become a name I feel very attached to. As an actor, I am grateful that people still remember me together with a project even after time has passed.”
So Ji Sub also admitted that starting a new project still brings both excitement and pressure, regardless of how much experience he has gained.
He said, “Whenever I begin a new project, I always wonder, ‘How should I show myself this time?’ and ‘Can I express this character well?’ Even if I have played a similar role before, meeting a new character makes me feel like I am starting again from the beginning.”
After decades in the industry, So Ji Sub said Agent Kim Reactivated has given him the feeling of entering a fresh stage in his career, much like I’m Sorry, I Love You did years earlier.
