Kim Yoo Jung and Jinyoung are raising expectations for tvN’s upcoming historical romance 100 Days of Deception after showing strong chemistry during their first script reading.
On August 21, tvN released photos and details from the script reading for the new weekend drama, which is scheduled to premiere on October 10.
100 Days of Deception is set during the Japanese colonial period and follows a skilled pickpocket who becomes an undercover informant and an elite interpreter working at the Government-General of Korea. Their paths cross while they become involved in a dangerous 100-day espionage mission.
Kim Yoo Jung plays Lee Ga Kyung, a talented pickpocket from Gyeongseong who goes undercover as an interpreter trainee. During the reading, she reportedly showed the character’s bold personality as well as the emotional changes she experiences after becoming involved in a secret mission.
Jinyoung takes on the role of Kim Tae Woong, also known as Sato Hideo, an elite interpreter who is fluent in three languages and carries personal pain that he keeps hidden from others.
According to the production team, Kim Yoo Jung and Jinyoung displayed natural chemistry despite working together for the first time, adding anticipation for the relationship between their characters.
The cast also includes Kim Hyun Joo, Lee Moo Saeng, Jin Sun Kyu, Lee Ki Young, Choi Deok Moon, Seo Jung Yeon, and Kim In Kwon.
Kim Hyun Joo plays Yoo So Ran, a member of an independence organization who becomes an important figure in Lee Ga Kyung’s mission.
portrays Yoo Philip, a foreign correspondent based in Gyeongseong who is also secretly connected to the resistance group, while Jin Sun Kyu plays Sato Shinichi, a powerful official and major target of the organization.
Following the script reading, the production team said, “It was a meaningful time from the very first meeting as we reflected on the meaning and message of the drama. We hope the sincerity of all the actors and staff will reach viewers.”
They added, “The drama will tell the story of ordinary people who did not lose hope for independence even during the dark period of Japanese colonial rule.”
100 Days of Deception will premiere on October 10 at 9:10 PM KST on tvN.
