Red Velvet’s Wendy’s agency ASND has announced that it will take strong legal action against malicious online posts and comments targeting the singer.
On August 19, ASND released an official statement referring back to its previous notice from April, when the company warned that it would respond firmly to malicious criticism, false information, defamation, and inappropriate comments directed at Wendy.
The agency said that despite the earlier warning, it has continued to find posts and comments that allegedly mock Wendy’s appearance and body, spread false claims, or contain sexually inappropriate remarks.
ASND stated, “We continue to identify malicious evaluations and degrading comments about the artist’s appearance and body, as well as posts and comments involving sexual objectification.”
The agency stressed that comments specifically targeting Wendy’s body, mocking her appearance, or deliberately spreading information that is different from the facts may go beyond ordinary personal opinions.
ASND said, “Acts that violate the artist’s dignity and rights cannot simply be considered opinions or freedom of expression.”
The company added that it is collecting evidence from existing posts and comments and will continue documenting new malicious content that may appear online.
ASND emphasized, “We will actively respond to actions that violate the artist’s rights regardless of how serious the individual case may appear.”
The agency also promised continued monitoring and said it would use necessary legal procedures to protect Wendy.
Recently, Wendy’s appearance has attracted various discussions online. While many comments were simply reactions to her latest look, ASND said some posts crossed the line by focusing excessively on her appearance and body or making inappropriate remarks.
The agency concluded that it will continue taking steps to protect Wendy’s dignity and legal rights from malicious online activity.
