Kim Go Eun shared a funny story about how her manager accidentally damaged her grand prize trophy after she won the top honor at the Blue Dragon Series Awards.
In a recent interview released through the Blue Dragon Film Awards and Blue Dragon Series Awards YouTube channel, Kim Go Eun reflected on receiving the grand prize and the support she received from people around her.
She said, “I’m grateful for the award itself, but I received so many sincere congratulations from people around me that those feelings touched me even more deeply.”
Kim Go Eun then revealed that an unexpected accident happened after the ceremony when her manager dropped the trophy onto the asphalt.
She explained, “My manager dropped the trophy on the asphalt, so it got scratched.”
Instead of getting upset, Kim Go Eun turned the situation into a joke because she had also made a small mistake during her acceptance speech by forgetting to mention her manager’s name.
She recalled telling the manager, “I didn’t mention you in my speech, and you dropped my trophy, so let’s call it even.”
Kim Go Eun laughed about the incident and added that she remains deeply grateful to the manager who has worked alongside her throughout her projects.
The actress also reflected on completing Yumi’s Cells after spending around five years with the series. She admitted that she never expected the project to continue through three seasons, but wanted to finish it properly for viewers who had supported the drama.
Kim Go Eun said, “Seasons 1 and 2 received such positive responses that there was pressure, but I was relieved because the reaction on set was also very warm.”
Looking back on her career, she said she currently feels she is going through one of the brightest periods of her life, but does not want to become too comfortable with praise.
She explained, “There were times when I felt frustrated because I wasn’t being recognized, and now I’m experiencing a period of great praise. I want to keep acting with the same sincerity so that even if a time comes when people no longer recognize me, I can continue quietly and steadily.”
While the trophy accident could have been disappointing, Kim Go Eun’s playful reaction turned it into a lighthearted story about her close relationship with her longtime manager.
