VIVIZ member Umji has opened up about the group’s extended break, sharing an honest message with fans as the members remain away from regular activities following their dispute with their agency.

On August 19, Umji posted a handwritten letter through her Instagram Story and admitted that she did not expect the hiatus to last this long.

She wrote, “I honestly didn’t think the break would become this long. I thought that if we each took some time to recharge, we would be able to see you again soon, so I feel very sorry that the wait has become longer than expected.”

Umji also gave fans an update on how she has been spending the unexpected free time.

She explained, “I’ve had the longest period of rest I’ve ever experienced, and during that time I’ve felt happy, struggled, made new promises to myself, felt tired, and found strength again. It has been quite dynamic.”

Although she initially expected the break to feel peaceful, Umji said her thoughts often became even busier while she was physically resting. She added that she sometimes traveled to help redirect those feelings in a more positive direction.

Despite the uncertainty, Umji said she and the other VIVIZ members are trying to turn their desire to perform again into motivation rather than exhaustion.

She shared, “For both me and the members, I hope this hunger doesn’t drain the strength we have left, but instead becomes a thirst for better and more wonderful times ahead.”

Umji also expressed hope that the group will be able to show a different side of themselves when activities eventually resume.

She continued, “I believe that when we start the engine again, we may be able to show you new sides of ourselves that are a little different from before.”

Asking fans to remain patient, she added, “It may take more time, but someday there will definitely be days when we are overwhelmed with so much content that this quiet period will feel hard to believe. Let’s hold on just a little longer.”

VIVIZ, consisting of Eunha, SinB, and Umji, debuted as a trio in 2022 after their activities with GFRIEND ended.

The group later entered a contract dispute with Big Planet Made Entertainment. According to previous reports, VIVIZ notified the agency in March that they intended to terminate their exclusive contracts, citing alleged issues involving settlement payments and management obligations.

The two sides subsequently entered legal proceedings over the contracts. In June, a court granted the three members’ request for an injunction suspending the effect of their exclusive contracts while the dispute continues.

Umji’s latest message focused mainly on the emotional impact of the long break and her hope that VIVIZ can eventually return with renewed energy.
