OURBIRTHDAY member Achiraya has revealed that watching BLACKPINK’s Lisa helped inspire her dream of becoming a K-pop idol.

On August 19, OURBIRTHDAY held a media showcase in Seoul for the release of the group’s first single Our Birthday.

OURBIRTHDAY is a seven-member girl group under INNIT Entertainment, a subsidiary of JYP Entertainment. The lineup includes members from Korea, Japan, and Thailand: Guk Chorok, Kirara, Baby, Jo Hye Jin, Yu, Shin Hye Won, and Achiraya.

Achiraya is drawing particular attention as the third Thai idol to debut through the JYP Entertainment system, following 2PM’s Nichkhun and GOT7’s BamBam.

Speaking about the milestone, Achiraya said, “As the third Thai member to debut through JYP, I feel very happy that I was given such a good opportunity.”

She explained that she has not yet had the chance to personally receive advice from other Thai idols who came before her, but added, “I will continue working hard so I can grow into a good artist.”

When asked what first introduced her to K-pop, Achiraya pointed to BLACKPINK and Lisa.

She shared, “I watched BLACKPINK’s videos from a young age. Lisa danced with so much charisma. Watching BLACKPINK enjoy themselves on stage made me dream of becoming an idol.”

Other international members also shared what inspired them to pursue K-pop.

Yu said the lyrics in K-pop songs encouraged her to imagine herself performing on a large stage, while Baby explained that she developed her dream after watching K-pop performances while learning dance as a child.

Kirara named TWICE as one of her biggest influences, saying, “I saw TWICE on social media when I was in elementary school. They looked so cool and had great teamwork, so I became a fan.” She later passed a JYP audition and eventually earned the opportunity to debut.

OURBIRTHDAY officially debuted on August 19 with their first single Our Birthday. Its title track, SQUEEZY, is a funk-based dance song built around the group’s signature “WHIP-HOP” style and carries a message about letting go of complicated emotions and stress.
