So Ji Sub has shared an early hint about what viewers could expect if Agent Kim Reactivated returns for a second season, suggesting that the story may expand into a larger team-based mission.
On August 18, Bold Page released a new pictorial and interview with So Ji Sub, where the actor discussed the success of Agent Kim Reactivated, his approach to choosing projects, and his thoughts on a possible season 2.
Speaking about how audiences now recognize him, So Ji Sub said the drama helped introduce him to younger viewers who may not have watched his earlier hit I'm Sorry, I Love You.
He explained, “There are many people from generations who haven't seen ‘I'm Sorry, I Love You,’ but ‘Agent Kim Reactivated’ was watched by a wide range of age groups. These days, people call me ‘Agent Kim Reactivated’ more often than my actual name.”
So Ji Sub also revealed that he had been interested in returning to an action project following Mercy for None. However, what attracted him most to Agent Kim Reactivated was not simply its action scenes.
“What I really liked was Agent Kim Reactivated's story, the environment he lived in, and everything that shaped the character,” he said.
The SBS drama became a major ratings success, reaching a nationwide peak rating of 23.1 percent according to Nielsen Korea. Following its strong performance, discussions about a second season have gained attention.
When asked what direction he would personally like to see, So Ji Sub said he hopes season 2 would have one major storyline connecting the entire season rather than relying mainly on separate episodes.
He explained, “Rather than making it completely new, I personally hope there will be one major story running through the season, similar to how his daughter's disappearance drove the story this time.”
So Ji Sub then offered another possible clue about how the series could develop.
“I don't know yet how it will be prepared. Depending on that, Agent Kim Reactivated's role could change as well, and I think that would allow me to show different sides of him,” he said.
He added, “Maybe they'll move as a team? The universe itself is already very large.”
While So Ji Sub's comments reflect his personal ideas rather than confirmed details for season 2, his remarks have raised expectations that Agent Kim Reactivated could expand its story and characters if the drama officially returns.
Agent Kim Reactivated stars So Ji Sub alongside Choi Dae Hoon and Yoon Kyung Ho. The action drama follows an ordinary-looking father who becomes a dangerous fighter while trying to protect and recover his only daughter.
