Koo Hye Sun is drawing attention once again after introducing a handmade fountain pen priced at 450,000 won, following an earlier discussion over the price of her patented hair roller.
On August 18, the actress and entrepreneur shared photos of the new fountain pen through her social media account and explained that the item should also be viewed as a handmade work.
Koo Hye Sun wrote, “I made a handmade fountain pen. Since it is in a relatively high price range, I hope people will see it as a work of art and also enjoy using it.”
She also shared an online purchase link for the product, which lists the Koo Hye Sun handmade fountain pen at 450,000 won.
The price attracted attention because Koo Hye Sun previously faced mixed reactions over the cost of KOOROLL, a circular hair roller she developed and patented. The product was listed at 13,000 won for one piece and 25,000 won for a two-piece set.
At the time, Koo Hye Sun addressed the pricing discussion by explaining that the initial production quantity was limited, which resulted in higher manufacturing costs.
She said, “The first production quantity was not large, so the cost was high. We plan to gradually offer discount events so consumers will feel less burdened when purchasing it.”
Koo Hye Sun later also introduced limited-edition handmade leather pen cases priced above 100,000 won.
Her latest 450,000 won fountain pen has now renewed discussion around the pricing of her handmade products. However, Koo Hye Sun has described the fountain pen as both a functional writing tool and a handcrafted piece, making its positioning different from a standard mass-produced item.
Koo Hye Sun has been expanding her activities as an entrepreneur since launching sales of her patented KOOROLL hair roller earlier this year.
