SHINee’s Onew questioned in medical case as agency says he had no reason to doubt provider’s credentials

SHINee’s Onew has addressed reports that he was questioned by police in connection with an ongoing investigation involving a person accused of providing medical treatments without a valid domestic medical license.

On August 12, Onew’s agency Griffin Entertainment released an official statement explaining his involvement in the case.

The agency said, “As we previously explained in our statement last December, Onew visited a hospital in the past after being introduced by an acquaintance and received treatment for skin care purposes.”

According to the company, Onew believed the person involved was a doctor or another medical professional affiliated with the hospital at the time.

The statement continued, “There were no circumstances that would have given him reason to question the person’s medical license or the legality of the procedures.”

Griffin Entertainment also confirmed that Onew cooperated with investigators.

The agency stated, “Onew truthfully explained these circumstances during a related investigation conducted once in May and sincerely cooperated with the investigative authorities.”

Separately, Seoul Gangnam Police reportedly said that Onew and television personality Jun Hyun Moo had been questioned in connection with the case. Authorities are continuing to investigate allegations surrounding a woman who has been accused of providing medical services without a Korean medical license.

The individual, who became widely discussed online under the nickname “injection aunt,” has reportedly been investigated over allegations that she administered IV treatments and handled prescription medications outside authorized medical settings. These claims remain subject to the ongoing investigation.

Onew’s agency emphasized that its artist had not been aware of any possible licensing issue when he received treatment.

It added, “As the investigation is currently ongoing, we hope that unconfirmed speculation or information that differs from the facts will not spread.”

Griffin Entertainment concluded by saying it would continue working to protect Onew’s rights while cooperating with the investigation.

The case remains under investigation, and Onew’s agency has maintained that he received what he believed to be legitimate medical care and had no apparent reason at the time to question the provider’s qualifications.
