TWICE member Chaeyoung has personally responded to recent online claims suggesting that she was smoking indoors, firmly stating that the object seen in a circulating video was a drink, not a cigarette.
On August 12, Chaeyoung addressed the discussion through a fan communication platform after repeatedly receiving questions about the clip.
She wrote, “I was just going to stay quiet, but people keep talking to me about cigarettes, so I’m mentioning it. It wasn’t a cigarette. I was drinking a beverage. Look closely.”
Chaeyoung also expressed frustration over how the situation had been interpreted online.
She continued, “I’m really tired. I was just having fun. And doesn’t it make no sense? There were so many people there. Would I really do something like that openly? I’m not that thoughtless.”
The issue began after a short video showing Chaeyoung from behind spread across online communities.
In the clip, she appeared to repeatedly bring something in her hand toward her mouth, leading some users to speculate that she may have been smoking inside the venue.
The video was reportedly taken when Chaeyoung attended an FKA twigs rave party at Dongdaemun Design Plaza in Seoul.
However, Chaeyoung directly denied the smoking claim and clarified that she was drinking from a beverage container in the video.
Her response aimed to address the misunderstanding while making clear that the interpretation circulating online did not match what she says actually happened.
