Actress Ha Young is facing continued public attention over historical records involving her great-grandfather, physician Ahn Sang Ho, with at least one fan account now announcing that it has stopped operating.
On August 11, an X account that had been dedicated to supporting Ha Young posted the simple message “Closed” before ending its activities.
The account had continued promoting Ha Young and her Netflix drama This Messy Love as recently as August 10. Its closure drew attention as online discussion surrounding the actress and her family history continued.
However, the account did not publicly provide a detailed explanation for its decision, so its exact reason for closing has not been independently confirmed.
The controversy began after Ha Young appeared with Jung Hae In on the August 7 broadcast of KBS2’s Problem Child in House while promoting her drama.
During the show, Ha Young spoke proudly about her family’s medical background and said, “My great-grandfather went to Japan to study Western medicine and was the first doctor to open a clinic in Hanyang.”
She added, “He even treated Emperor Gojong.”
Following the broadcast, historical records connected to Ahn Sang Ho began receiving renewed attention online. Reports pointed to records showing that he studied medicine in Japan and later worked in Korea, while questions were also raised about his involvement with organizations during the Japanese colonial period.
Ha Young’s agency initially responded by saying that parts of the allegations circulating online were not true.
One day later, however, the agency revised its position after conducting additional verification.
The company stated, “After further confirmation, we verified that a record does exist showing Ahn Sang Ho’s name on the list of council members of the Taisho Friendship Association in 1916.”
It also apologized for its earlier response, saying, “We sincerely apologize for causing confusion by hastily responding that the claims were unfounded without sufficient verification.”
The agency added that it had learned how important it is to carefully verify historical information before making public statements and said Ha Young would approach her future activities with greater caution.
While the agency has addressed the issue, Ha Young herself has not released a separate personal statement directly responding to the criticism as of the report.
Some online users have called for a clearer explanation or apology from the actress because the controversy began after she publicly discussed her great-grandfather’s history. At the same time, the historical activities being examined concern her ancestor rather than actions taken by Ha Young herself.
The situation has also drawn attention because promotional and advertising content featuring Ha Young has reportedly been made private in recent days, although the companies involved have not publicly confirmed whether those changes were directly related to the controversy.
The closing of the fan account has now become another sign of the growing public reaction surrounding the issue, but it would be inaccurate to describe it as proof that Ha Young’s entire fanbase has withdrawn its support.
