SEVENTEEN member Dino is gaining attention overseas as his alter ego Pi Cheolin continues to grow from a humorous character into a full music project with its own identity.
British music and fashion magazine CLASH recently highlighted Pi Cheolin and Dino’s first mini album, 吉BOARD, noting how the character has become an increasingly important part of Dino’s musical activities.
The publication described the album as “a project that shows Dino is not afraid of artistic challenges while offering a look back at a time when street music culture was thriving.”
American music platform Genius also focused on Dino’s interpretation of the retro concept, saying, “Retro concepts are often used in K pop, but Dino’s interpretation through Pi Cheolin clearly stands out.”
The outlet particularly highlighted Dino’s mix of 1990s inspired sounds with modern production. It also discussed the track Love Through Jeong, pointing to the Korean idea of “jeong,” which refers to deep affection and emotional connection built over time.
Other international publications, including Cosmopolitan Indonesia, Bandwagon Asia, and Esquire Philippines, have also highlighted Dino’s versatility, commitment to the concept, and energetic performance style.
Pi Cheolin’s activities are set to continue this month. Dino will appear as the character on HYBE’s podcast channel STAN:A through the original content series STAN [SEVENTEEN] on August 14.
He will then meet fans at 2026 Dino X Pi Cheolin [吉BOARD SHOW] from August 21 to 23 at Jamsil Indoor Stadium in Seoul.
Interest in the concerts has already been strong, with all available seats reportedly selling out on the first day of fan club membership pre sales.
The response shows that Pi Cheolin has developed beyond a simple alter ego and is now attracting attention as another creative side of Dino’s career.
