KBS 2TV’s The Husband wrapped up its run with its strongest ratings yet, setting a new record for the network’s weekend miniseries lineup.
According to Nielsen Korea, the final episode, which aired on August 9, recorded a nationwide household rating of 8.8% and reached a peak of 11.2% per minute.
The drama also ranked No. 1 among dramas airing in the same time slot across terrestrial and other television channels, while setting a new all-time ratings record for a KBS weekend miniseries.
The finale focused on Kang Tae Joo, played by Namgoong Min, and Go Se Yoon, played by Lee Seol, as they reached an important decision about their relationship after the major conflicts surrounding them came to an end.
Rather than ending their story with another dramatic confrontation, the two characters chose to separate without blaming each other.
Go Se Yoon told Kang Tae Joo, “This time, I’ll be the one to let go. Let’s get divorced.”
Kang Tae Joo responded, “I guess this is how differently we love.”
The closing scene then showed the two meeting again after their divorce and quietly checking on each other.
When Go Se Yoon said, “I’m going to walk for a while,” Kang Tae Joo gently asked, “Can I walk with you?”
The pair then walked together along a forest path, giving the drama a calm and open-ended conclusion rather than a typical romantic reunion.
The production team thanked the cast, staff, and viewers for supporting the series, saying, “We sincerely thank all the actors and staff who completed this work with passion and dedication, as well as the viewers who gave us their warm support and interest.”
With its 8.8% nationwide finale rating, 11.2% peak, and new KBS weekend miniseries record, The Husband ended its run on its highest note.
