Song Kang and Lee Jun Young are set to show a changing relationship filled with rivalry, friendship, and music in tvN’s upcoming weekend drama Four Hands, Two Sonatas.
Premiering on August 29 at 9:10 PM KST, Four Hands, Two Sonatas is a youth drama set at an arts high school where talented young musicians experience friendship, love, competition, and personal growth.
Song Kang plays Kang Bi Oh, a perfectionist who remains at the top of both his studies and piano performance through constant practice. The actor previously gained global attention through Sweet Home, which reached No. 1 on Netflix in nine countries, including Taiwan, Singapore, and Vietnam.
Lee Jun Young, who previously starred in Rookie Chairman Kang, takes on the role of Choi Jung Yo, a transfer student who decides to pursue his dream of becoming a pianist. His natural musical instincts quickly shake Bi Oh’s confidence and create a strong rivalry between them.
However, Jung Yo has his own reason for approaching Bi Oh. After being deeply impressed by Bi Oh’s piano performance, he becomes inspired to chase his dream again and tries to become closer to him.
New stills from the drama show how their relationship gradually changes. In one image, the two face each other with serious expressions, hinting at an uncomfortable beginning.
Another photo shows them sitting side by side at the same piano while looking at one piece of sheet music, suggesting that their rivalry may eventually develop into a meaningful partnership.
A final still shows both characters sitting at separate pianos and exchanging determined looks as they prepare to perform together. Their changing dynamic is expected to become one of the drama’s main highlights.
Four Hands, Two Sonatas will also follow its characters across a decade, from age 17 to 27.
Additional stills show an older Bi Oh performing in a formal concert setting, while Jung Yo appears more confident and mature on stage. Jang Gyu Ri’s character Hong Jae In, who has supported both young musicians with her sensitive ear for music, also returns with a more grown-up appearance.
The drama will explore how the friendships and relationships between Bi Oh, Jung Yo, and Jae In change over those ten years and whether the bonds they formed as teenagers remain strong as adults.
With Song Kang and Lee Jun Young leading a story built around two very different piano talents, Four Hands, Two Sonatas is already drawing attention for the emotional chemistry and rivalry the pair will bring to the screen.
