YouTuber Malwang, who has around 1.87 million subscribers, is gaining renewed attention for comments he previously made about BLACKPINK’s group activities.

On August 7, screenshots from an April video uploaded to his YouTube channel began circulating again on online communities and social media.

In the video, Malwang introduced himself as a longtime BLACKPINK fan and said, “As you all know, I’m a BLINK. I’ve even been to their concerts three times.”

However, he also shared his personal disappointment with the direction of the group’s recent activities.

Malwang said, “It doesn’t feel like the same group anymore, and they are focusing more on individual activities. Fans who like BLACKPINK as an idol group probably won’t be happy about that.”

He also gave his opinion on BLACKPINK’s February title track GO, saying, “Honestly, I think the new song feels like something made mainly to succeed globally.”

His production team jokingly responded with the caption, “Malwang TV has nothing to do with this statement,” adding humor to what was presented as his personal opinion as a fan.

The comments originally attracted attention as a lighthearted but candid moment. They have now resurfaced as some fans express disappointment over plans surrounding BLACKPINK’s 10th anniversary fan event.

YG Entertainment announced on August 6 that a special anniversary event would take place in Seoul on August 8, with 40 fans selected through a lottery.

Some fans questioned the limited number of attendees and the short application period. The announcement also stated that only members available due to their schedules would participate, creating uncertainty over the lineup.

Speculation later emerged about Rosé’s attendance after she was recently seen in Los Angeles. However, THEBLACKLABEL denied suggestions that she would miss the event.

The agency stated, “The artist has prioritized this schedule for a long time in order to share this meaningful moment with fans, and all related plans were confirmed in advance.”

The agency also asked people to avoid criticism based on unconfirmed speculation.

BLACKPINK renewed their contract with YG Entertainment for group activities in December 2023, while the members continued their individual careers under separate management arrangements.

The group later resumed full-group music activities with the album DEADLINE in February, marking their first complete-group album release in about three years and five months.
