IU has become the center of an unexpected online debate after several reports claimed that she deleted a song by her former boyfriend Jang Kiha from her social media post.
However, the song had not actually been removed.
On August 7, several reports claimed that IU initially used Jang Kiha and the Faces’ Living the Carefree Life as background music before later deleting it.
This led to speculation that the singer and actress may have removed the song because of Jang Kiha’s current relationship with actress Yoon Ga Yi.
A check of IU’s social media account at around 1:30 PM KST on August 7 showed that Living the Carefree Life was still being used as the background music. In other words, the song had not been deleted as some reports claimed.
The incorrect reports nevertheless sparked negative comments and further speculation about IU’s intentions.
The discussion originally began after IU shared 46 recent photos on August 6 with the caption, “Living diligently.” Fans and online users noticed that she had selected Jang Kiha’s song as the background music for the post.
Because Jang Kiha is currently publicly dating Yoon Ga Yi, some online users questioned IU’s song choice, while others argued that too much meaning was being attached to a simple background music selection.
The situation became more confusing after reports claimed that IU had removed the song. Some users then criticized her based on information that turned out to be inaccurate.
While people may have different interpretations of IU’s choice of background music, the song remained attached to her post as of August 7, despite reports suggesting otherwise.
