Dawn has shared an honest message about the pressure he felt while preparing to return with new music after nearly three years.
On August 7, the singer posted a personal statement on social media shortly after releasing his new single Too Much.
Dawn revealed that he spent the past three years questioning what kind of music he should make and how people might respond to him.
He wrote, “For the past three years, I thought a lot about what kind of music I should make.”
The singer explained that concerns about his image, public reaction, and streaming performance gradually became a major part of his creative process.
Dawn said, “How I would be seen, how people would look at me, and how many streams I would get. At some point, I realized that I was looking at numbers and results before the music itself.”
He added that he now wants to accept both the empty and incomplete sides of himself instead of trying to hide them.
“Now, I want to calmly accept myself as I am, including the empty parts of me and the parts that are still incomplete, and honestly talk about that process,” he shared.
Dawn also said that he does not expect every listener to relate to the stories he plans to tell through his music. However, he believes reaching even one person with similar feelings would be meaningful.
He wrote, “Even if the stories I share from now on do not connect with everyone, if they can reach even one person who feels the same way as me, I think that alone would be enough.”
The singer continued, “I am still moving forward one step at a time without knowing exactly where my destination is, but I would be very grateful if you could support me and watch this journey together.”
Dawn released Too Much at 1 PM KST on August 7, marking his first new release in nearly three years following his 2023 EP Narcissus.
Dawn originally debuted in 2016 as E'Dawn of PENTAGON before leaving the group in 2018. He later changed his stage name to Dawn and continued his career as a solo artist.
After previously working with agencies including P NATION and AT AREA, he is currently continuing his music activities independently.
