JTBC’s weekend drama The Apartment Job, starring Ji Sung, recorded the lowest rating among the major weekend miniseries that aired on August 2.
According to Nielsen Korea, episode 8 of The Apartment Job earned a nationwide average rating of 5.4%.
On the same night, tvN’s Spooky in Love, starring Park Eun Bin, recorded 6.0%, while KBS2’s The Husband, led by Namgoong Min, reached 7.2%. MBC’s A Bona Fide Killer, starring Gong Hyo Jin, rose above 8.0% with its second episode, placing it at the top of the group.
Despite finishing last in the ratings comparison, The Apartment Job continued to develop its main conflict. Park Hae Kang, played by Ji Sung, appeared to follow Lee Choong Won’s orders before making it clear that he would no longer remain under his control.
During their confrontation, Park Hae Kang told him, “I may be a bad person too, but you are simply trash,” before warning, “I think I can make things very interesting for you.”
The episode also focused on tension between apartment owners and rental residents after Jang Sook Jin’s status as a rental tenant was revealed. When others questioned her right to attend the residents’ meeting, she responded, “Do I also need qualifications just to help make the apartment where I live a better place?”
Park Hae Kang later encouraged her to run as the head of the rental residents’ council. She was elected after asking the community to recognize rental households as equal members of the apartment complex.
The Apartment Job will now look to recover in the ratings as its central conflict becomes more direct.
