MBC’s new Friday-Saturday drama A Bona fide Killer made a steady debut, recording a nationwide viewership rating of 7.4 percent for its first episode.
According to Nielsen Korea, the drama ranked first in its time slot during its premiere on July 31. It began its run without a regular competing drama after SBS’s popular series Agent Kim Reactivated ended with a peak rating of 23.1 percent.
The special broadcast Agent Kim Reactivated: The Universe, which aired during the same time slot, recorded a nationwide rating of 4.5 percent, showing continued viewer interest in the completed series.
Based on a popular webtoon, A Bona fide Killer follows Yoo Bo Na, a working mother trying to balance family life with an unusually dangerous profession. The cast includes Gong Hyo Jin, Jung Joon Won, Lee Sang Yi, and Sung Dong Il.
The premiere briefly introduced Bo Na’s return to work after taking three years of parental leave. Soon after returning, she attends her first client meeting on the roof of a church, highlighting the drama’s unusual mix of family life, workplace struggles, and suspense.
The series also marks Gong Hyo Jin’s return to MBC after 15 years. She previously appeared in successful MBC dramas including Ruler of Your Own World, Pasta, and The Greatest Love.
With a 7.4 percent opening rating and first place in its time slot, attention is now focused on whether A Bona fide Killer can continue to grow and successfully fill the schedule left open by Agent Kim Reactivated.
