Actor So Ji Sub shared his thoughts on the possibility of a second season of Agent Kim Reactivated, the drama’s use of artificial intelligence, and the kind of role he may choose next.

So Ji Sub recently sat down for an interview following the end of SBS’s Friday Saturday drama Agent Kim Reactivated, which aired its final episode on July 25.

The action drama follows an ordinary father who becomes a dangerous fighter while trying to rescue his only daughter. So Ji Sub played Kim, a former agent who had taken part in many secret operations.

One of the drama’s most discussed scenes was a nearly three minute sequence showing Kim’s past that was created entirely with AI. The production was described as the first Korean drama to use AI for a complete sequence of this length.

Speaking about the decision, So Ji Sub said: “I think AI is something we will not be able to exclude in the future, and I believe it was a good attempt.”

The actor also said that a possible second season would need a carefully planned main story.

He explained: “The biggest question would be, ‘What major storyline should season 2 follow?’ His wife is no longer in the story, so she cannot go missing, and we cannot have his daughter disappear again.”

After the success of Agent Kim Reactivated, So Ji Sub admitted that choosing another action project may feel challenging.

He said: “I still want to do action, but because ‘Manager Kim’ did so well, taking on another action role may feel a little overwhelming.”

He added that watching a rerun of The Master’s Sun made him consider returning to romantic comedy.

So Ji Sub shared: “I recently saw ‘The Master’s Sun’ playing on television, and it made me wonder whether there is a romantic comedy that someone my age could do.”

The actor also addressed viewers’ complaints about the amount of product placement in the final part of the drama.

He explained: “Dramas need product placement to be produced. ‘Manager Kim’ is a very serious drama, so there were not many places where advertisements could fit naturally. That may be why many of them appeared in the final episode. Still, the advertisers are important partners.”
