Actor So Ji Sub shared the thoughtful reason he avoids speaking publicly about his wife, former broadcaster Jo Eun Jung.
During a recent interview about the SBS drama Agent Kim Reactivated, So Ji Sub was asked how his wife reacted to the series.
He replied: “First, she told me that I worked hard because there were many difficult scenes. She also said it was entertaining and that people around her talked about it a lot.”
He added: “We do not usually talk much about work at home.”
So Ji Sub married Jo Eun Jung in April 2020. The two reportedly first met when she interviewed him for the film Be With You. Jo Eun Jung previously worked as an announcer and entertainment program reporter.
Although So Ji Sub has rarely discussed his marriage during public appearances, he explained that his silence comes from respect for his wife’s identity.
He said: “I want my wife to live under her own name.”
The actor continued: “Whenever she receives attention, she is described as someone’s wife. I feel sorry about that, so I try not to talk about her too much.”
His comments showed his desire to protect Jo Eun Jung from being known only through their marriage while supporting her as an individual.
Meanwhile, Agent Kim Reactivated follows an ordinary office worker who confronts his dangerous past while searching for his missing daughter.
The drama ended after 10 episodes on July 25 and reportedly reached a personal best nationwide rating of 23.1 percent.
