Son Na Eun expressed her gratitude to So Ji Sub after working with him in the SBS drama Agent Kim Reactivated.
During an interview held on July 29 in Cheongdam dong, Seoul, Son Na Eun spoke about the drama, her experience on set, and So Ji Sub’s thoughtful support for the cast and production team.
Agent Kim Reactivated ended on July 25 with strong ratings. According to Nielsen Korea, the final episode recorded 23.4 percent in the Seoul metropolitan area and 23.0 percent nationwide. Its highest real time rating reached 27.1 percent, setting a new personal record for the drama.
The action series follows an ordinary father who becomes a dangerous fighter while trying to bring back his only daughter. Son Na Eun played Jung Sang Ah, an employee at Sangsaeng Savings Bank who is also connected to a special operations unit.
Speaking about working with So Ji Sub, Son Na Eun said: “So Ji Sub was someone who made me feel secure just by being on set. He truly became Manager Kim himself.”
She recalled feeling nervous during their first scene together at the bank. However, she said that the nervous feeling worked well for the scene.
Son Na Eun explained: “He gave me a lot of advice about how to use the gun, how to hold it so it would look good, and how we should plan the camera angles.”
She also praised the cast’s teamwork and the positive filming environment.
She said: “My chemistry with the senior actors was good, the teamwork was good, and the atmosphere on set was good. Everything was enjoyable. They created a set where we could have fun while acting, and that helped me greatly.”
So Ji Sub previously gained attention after it was reported that he gave one don of pure gold to approximately 300 cast and staff members who worked on Agent Kim Reactivated. Reports estimated that he spent close to 100 million won of his own money on the gifts.
Son Na Eun confirmed that she also received one and expressed appreciation for his kindness.
She said: “I was very thankful. It felt warm because I could see that he cared not only for the actors but for every staff member as well.”
Son Na Eun added that the demanding action scenes helped the cast and crew form a close bond.
She explained: “The atmosphere on set was truly good, and he shared many encouraging words with us. Since every episode was filled with action and the filming was physically difficult, I think we developed a strong sense of teamwork.”
She also shared a lighthearted memory involving Yoon Kyung Ho during a hotel cart scene. The director reportedly wanted Son Na Eun’s character to stand out because the scene involved a plan that used her appearance as part of the mission.
Son Na Eun joked: “Yoon Kyung Ho did it even better than I did, so the director apologized to me and said, ‘I’m sorry.’”
