Gong Hyo Jin shared her thoughts on returning to MBC through the upcoming Friday Saturday drama A Bona Fide Killer.

At the drama’s press conference on July 30, Gong Hyo Jin spoke about appearing in an MBC drama for the first time in 15 years since The Greatest Love aired in 2011.

She said: “I was surprised when I heard it had been 15 years. I could not believe it, and it made me realize how quickly time has passed.”

The actress also looked back on her popular MBC dramas Pasta and The Greatest Love, which helped strengthen her image as a leading romantic comedy actress.

She shared: “I recently watched short clips from The Greatest Love, and many memories came back. It achieved meaningful results, and I loved the character. Pasta also unexpectedly helped me earn the nickname ‘Gongvely.’ I am returning as MBC’s daughter in law.”

In A Bona Fide Killer, Gong Hyo Jin plays Yoo Bo Na, a wife and mother who returns to work while hiding a dangerous professional identity.

Speaking about the character, she explained: “While reading the webtoon, I found it interesting that Yoo Bo Na hides her emotions through her expressions and words. She is a homemaker raising a daughter, a wife, and a mysterious woman returning to her job.”

Gong Hyo Jin, who is widely known for romantic comedies, said playing a killer was more difficult than she initially expected.

She said: “The killer role was much harder than I imagined. Showing the contrast between her dangerous work and her life at home with her husband and daughter was more challenging than I expected.”

She added: “One of the drama’s biggest strengths is how it balances her ordinary life as a wife and daughter in law with her hardworking life as a working mother.”

Based on a popular Kakao webtoon of the same name, A Bona Fide Killer follows Yoo Bo Na as she tries to protect her family life while carrying out dangerous assignments. The drama also stars Jung Joon Won, Lee Sang Yi, Moo Jin Sung, Choi Woo Sung, and Lee Eun Saem.

The series is directed by Yoon Jong Ho, who previously worked on the hit drama Lovely Runner. A Bona Fide Killer will premiere on July 31 at 9:50 PM.
